Community Involvement Committee

HYPE members are eager to volunteer and be active within our community. The Community Involvement committee works to find and create opportunities in the Hartford Region to get HYPE members involved with. These opportunities range from major fundraising events to youth programs, and nonprofit board trainings to community collection drives.

The Community Involvement Committee is in charge of two major events each year. In June, HYPE holds Tee it Up for Charity at the Travelers Championship, where HYPE members participate in a silent auction and a Putt, Chip, & Drive competition to raise funds for local charities. In December, the Committee works to organize Tons of Toys, a fun holiday event where we collect toys to donate to a local children’s organization. In 2016, we collected over 1,600 toys for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

In 2017 the committee plans to focus on finding more volunteer and community activities to get HYPEsters involved with. We want to have an even larger impact on our community than we have in past years, and we want to keep track of our impact to be able to share that information year to year.

If you are someone that’s interested in our local nonprofit community, and you want to help lead the way for more HYPEsters to get involved and make a difference, then you should join the Community Involvement Committee.

We meet once a month throughout the year, either in person and through conference call, and also by email and Basecamp (a project management tool.
