Employer: Journey Home, Inc.

Industry/Job Title: Deputy Director

What she does: At Journey Home we seek to solve the problem of chronic homelessness in Greater Hartford. As a catalyst for systemic change, Journey Home develops and implements innovative ways to improve the housing and service system in order to offer those experiencing homelessness paths toward independent, fulfilling and productive lives. As we are a small organization, I find myself constantly doing new things and learning new skills from direct service, grant management, development, networking, research and more. I received my Masters from the UConn School of Social Work in 2011 with a concentration in Community Organizing. While there I did an internship with the Middlesex Country Coalition on Housing and Homelessness which spurred my passion for the work I do now.

Future Aspirations:
One of my main goals is to gain respect among my peers for my knowledge, enthusiasm and experience in the field. My ultimate goal is to have a lasting impact on reducing systemic injustices that exist in our society in whatever capacity I am able to.

Dream Job: My dream job would be to be an extreme weight loss fitness trainer, like those on The Biggest Loser, in order to help people reach their maximum potential and live long, healthy, and productive lives.
