Whether you’re a seasoned yogi, someone who is seeking to return to the practice, or a complete newbie, consider attending Om Street: Yoga on LaSalle Road
This is a free event which takes place on and around LaSalle Road in West Hartford. This year, the event will be held on Saturday July 22nd
, with a rain date of Saturday August 12th
. Class kicks off promptly at 8am, but participants are encouraged to arrive early in order to secure parking and to set up their mats.
Last year, over 2,000 individuals converged on West Hartford Center to participate in this 75-minute class led by Barbara Ruzansky, owner and director of West Hartford Yoga
(WHY). With over 2 dozen yoga studios and fitness centers joining the event this year, last year’s record attendance should easily be matched, if not surpassed! (Photo taken by Sean Patrick Fowler, Special to the Courant)
There is no need to register, but participants are asked to bring a yoga mat, towel, and plenty of water.
“One of my favorite things about Om Street is the sense of community that it creates. Everyone is encouraged to attend the event regardless of their level of experience or age. There is an even an ASL interpreter available to assist those who are hard of hearing. It is also amazing to see an entire city center quiet down so that you can focus on yourself for a moment.” – HYPEster Janet Vamos
