Engineers Without Borders – Hartford Professional Chapter (EWB-HPC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving impoverished communities through volunteer partnerships to ensure that those communities have the capacity to sustainably meet their basic human needs. Their members are young professionals who gain unique personal and professional development while improving their partner community. Recently, EWB-HPC has partnered with a community in Ecuador and they're planning for their first assessment trip this fall. The community has identified water storage and distribution as their major need, and their chapter is excited to collaborate with them to develop a sustainable solution.
This is a very exciting time for their chapter! They're growing both in membership and impact, and are using this momentum to raise awareness in their own community. They're hosting a series of fundraisers at local breweries and wineries to get people interested and knowledgeable about the work that they're doing. Their first event is EWB On Tap on Sunday, August 13th at Hanging Hills Brewery in Hartford. Doors open at 12PM, live music starts at 2PM, and 10% of all sales will go to their chapter, so make sure to stop by!
“I joined EWB-HPC because it is a great organization that allows me to put my professional experience to use in helping the less fortunate. I hope to see you at Hanging Hills!” - HYPEster Josh Rathgeb
They look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions about their chapter, please visit their website or come with questions to the fundraiser. Questions specifically about the fundraiser can go to Jessie Ciulla.
